Leisure & Stadia

Leisure centres, sports facilities, swimming pools and gyms are all developments where we have been able to demonstrate experience and knowledge in resolving the particular technical challenges presented.

Such types of facility have, traditionally and by their very nature, been enormous users, and wasters, of energy. High demands for hot water, ventilation and lighting are common to all and have more recently presented energy saving opportunities for the employment of many interesting initiatives associated with energy use reduction. Virtually every type of initiative has a part to play somewhere in this type of development and the skills needed to effectively analyse and assess all of the options and propose suitable energy reduction solutions is something that building owner and user appreciate.

Leisure developments can benefit from the complementary incorporation of several different technologies working alongside each other. The trick is to ensure that the mix of technologies is not only right for the building but also presents the best combinations for ensuring cost effective sustainability, comfort control and operational costs. This is precisely what we do.

Some of our previous commissions include the following:

  • Highcliff Hotel Leisure Club

  • Spelthorne Leisure Centre

  • Staines Pool

  • Swallow International Hotel Leisure Club

  • The Collective Canary Wharf Apartments

Stadiums and arenas now play host to more than just sporting events and this diverse use introduces complexities in how the buildings are serviced to ensure they can cope for the varying demands that different events may bring, providing customer satisfaction for our clients.

We have worked with Surrey County Cricket Club on the Peter May stand at Kia Oval which involved the demolition of the existing stand and replaced with a new design in its place. This new stand created an additional 1,448 seats and introduced a fully open concourse area below providing new bars, catering and toilets. Following our success on this project we were appointed to provide planning support on the forthcoming Lock Laker Stand as well as design of Guildford Cricket Club's new pavilion.

Working on behalf Guildford Cricket Cub we provided full services for the refurbishment and improvements to the Woodbridge Road sports pavilion, which has been the second home for Surrey County Cricket Club for over 75 years. The scheme involved the extension and modernisation of the site to improve sustainability and make it accessible to all.
